I don't plan on getting a job. So I won't need a visa right?

Well, you'll need a job and a work visa. See the first link.

Vancouver is one of the most expensive cities in Canada. A typical family home near the center will cost about $800,000, but if you're willing to live in the suburbs (and commute 45-60 minutes to the center) you can get a place for closer to $500,000. Renting in the center is expensive as well- you're looking at about $1200 for a studio in Yaletown. See the second link for some rental ads. I don't know about the job market, but I do know that Vancouver is beautiful and there is so much to see and do.

You can't just up and move to Vancouver, you have to apply for a work visa to live in Canada. And that is not to say you will get it. No one will hire you until you have a work permit. So hope you have alot of money to tie you up till you get your legal work permit.
