Every week or so I keep getting these emails delivered to my bulk mail folder and the sender is blank as is the subject. Does anyone know what this is about? I've never opened one, thinking it might be a virus or something. Is it a virus?

It could also be one of the spam houses out there who is testing to find "active" email addresses to add to or maintain on their spam list. If they have access to the server logs --and most do-- they can tell what emails are accepted and which are rejected from the logs, without even having to provide a sending email address.

If there's no content and no attachment I rather doubt it's any sort of virus to be concerned about. Just a spammer checking to see if your email address is still active so that they can then sell it as part of their list to 1,000 other little spammer wannabe's.

FWIW, I get these blank emails a handful of times each week on my various email addresses.

The e-mail itself is not a virus but, what's in it usually is. If not that it's got adware. Any good code writer can easily make a blank e-mail carry a link to download and can make it look like anything such as a blank message body. When you click on the blank page thinking nothing should happen, you've just activated a link that downloads whatever is intended for you. viruses, adware programs, trojan horses, etc. So don't open them!!!!!!

First of all, you do not need to READ anything in your bulk folder. You should only look at the name or e-mail address, in case one of your friends got in there by mistake. Other wise, HIT DELETE. or EMPTY BULK FOLDER.

I usually EMPTY without even viewing the Bulk folder. You see, you really have to wise up, and avoid even looking. If something is really important, the person will CALL YOU. Identity Theft and bogus offers that don't pay off, or viruses and spyware is all that you should expect. WAKE UP and WISE UP.

Could be: espicially if there's an attachment with a file extension of .rar (a real red flag it's a virus).

Then again, it could be the sender hopes you'll respond so they'll have your email address and heavy send you a salvo of junk email (of which may contain viruses).

Bottom line: if you don't know the sender or there's NO sender or subject.....DELETE IT.
