Its a bit dated.

If you are looking for cheap, then it should do the job on some older games.

Otherwise check the 7000 series of cards.

The 6200 is okay, for most things. You won't be playing any games at the maximum settings, low to medium detail will work okay though.

The card does not suport shader model 3 or HDR but thats not the end of the world. If you plan on getting one, try not to go for the turbocache models unless you have 1 GB of ram or more.

If it's price thats a factor try getting one of the 7300 cards instead, they're not that much expensive.

If you compare the 6200 to any onboard card like the GMA 950 it is still way better.

I have one of these cards and for what i paid for it i can't complain. All my games played with no problems except for Need for Speed: Most Wanted. In that case i brought down the Core Clock by 15 MHz and the graphical glitches went away. That is the price you pay for passive cooling.

You really don't have to have the best graphics card running at maximum detail to enjoy a game. One day game designers will realize that a good story line/plot with average graphics is better than having amazing visual effects and no story line.

The 6200 is fantastic, for many issues. you merely isn't enjoying any video games on the optimum settings, low to medium element will artwork ok however. the cardboard does not suport shader variety 3 or HDR yet thats no longer the top of the international. in case you intend on getting one, attempt to no longer choose for the turbocache fashions except you have a million GB of ram or greater. If it rather is fee thats a ingredient attempt getting between the 7300 enjoying cards as a substitute, they do no longer seem to be that lots high priced. in case you study the 6200 to any onboard card like the GMA 950 it continues to be way greater effective. I also have a variety of enjoying cards and for what i paid for it i won't be in a position to whinge. All my video games performed without issues different than for want for velocity: maximum needed. if so i delivered down the middle Clock by potential of 15 MHz and the graphical equipment defects went away. it rather is the fee you pay for passive cooling. you incredibly do no longer ought to have the final photos card working at optimum element to savour a pastime. sooner or later pastime designers will comprehend that a stable tale line/plot with overall photos is larger than having incredible seen effects and no tale line.

That depends. It is decent, but it will not play the newer 3d games with SM3.0 very well.
If you are limited to the PCI bus, then the 6200 is about the best you can get. I think there is an overclocked version.

Depends on your purpose
for gaming like Counter-Strike Source and Battlefield 2, definatly NOT. you would want something like a 6600 or better.
I would recommend the Geforce 7600 though
they are fast and extremely cheap
150 and dropping
so put 2 7600 GTs together and get awesome graphics for 300 bucks or less

I'm pretty happy with my GeForce FX series card, but if you have the money get a Radeon 9 series

if you are into high gaming then yes if not then you dont need one that powerful. 256 is alot of power for just playing internet games but if you are into gaming like Dark Age of Camolt or Warcraft, or or other games like that even 128 would do good but if you are not using it for gaming then go with the 128
its like the Geforce 5200
