I really want to write a romance story, but every idea i come up with people always say it's been done before. Do you have any ideas that havn't been done, or maybe not done as much as some others. I wouldnt ask but im out of ideas, so dont be mean! lol.

Romance stories aren't "original" but then pretty much any story told isn't. One of the Greatest writers of all time was Shakespeare. His most memorable romantic story was "Romeo and Juliette" which he, um, borrowed from other European writers. Ditto for Hamlet, Julius Caesar, King Lear...

Don't worry about originality. It doesn't exist. Worry about characters. Are they REAL? Is this something I can see happening to me, or at least sympathizing with if I don't "agree."

But if you want to try and do a romantic story that is different than the rest, perhaps you should try talking about love from the perspective of the outside looking in. The guy who doesn't get the girl (or the girl who doesn't get the guy). How he or she feels. How they rationalize their actions. How they try hard and fail. What they hope, what they dream.

Do a free-love, sixties style, Robert Heinlein 'Stranger in a Strange Land' type of romance instead of the Victorian or just plain sleazy one. Or try a dark romance where the main guy is a real evil bastard but has a Cassanova thing going on with the main gal.

Never read any real romance but if, as you say, all those ideas have been done then try mixing genres. Add horror or fantasy or suspense. HBO has that Big Love series going on about a polygamist family... interesting concept.

Maybe a romance between a woman and her horse... ok that's just vile.

While walking thru north Beverly, Mass. one cold november
evening . i stumbled on a crack in the sidewalk. As i picked up
myself off of one knee i saw a name in a wall the rose to about
my elbow and ran the lenth of the road, and on the otherside
of the wall for as foar as the eye could see in the darkness
of that dimmly lit back road was a cemetary . not just youre
nicley mowed all in a row cemetaries, but an 1600's cemetary.
with graves put where the elders thought the dead deserved
to be. but looking at the distance in the dark from where i stood
the name in the wall lookted to be 30 yards or more from
any other grave and knowing a little about 1600's salem wich
this road and cemetary are located ,I wondered what this person
might have done that was soo hanis that the elders wouldnt allow
them to be buried inside .(true location and event) use youre imagination to tell the rest.

There are many internet romance scams going on. Maybe you can have a romance story of two con artists who both have set up fake profiles on a dating site. In the process of conning each other, they both find they have fallen in love with each other. They both feel that the other person is the person of their dreams; but because they are both fake, they want to meet each other (because of their love) and yet they cannot. You know what I mean? Should you ever publish this story line, I don't mind you doing it as long as you give me some credits in your book, movie, ...etc.

A guy is lost in the woods because he lost his memory. And then when the girl is picking berries, she spots the guy sitting down lonely. Then the girl took him home and cleaned him. The guy fell in love with the girl because she took care of him every day and but the girl found out that the guy was part of a important family. The girl thinks she does not deserve anything but the guy really likes her. You can think of the rest. ^____^

There was one gay guy who was married to a woman and then he said this is gay...using gay as a general derogatory term, as most do in that connotation, probably half as much as they say it to mean homosexual...and the .01% of the time they use to mean happy...welll back to the story...he divorces his wife, and he likes a gay guy...then they hook up and they both die because they are gay...and the wife is ok because she's hot and the rest of the story is about how she stars working at a strip club and the movie shows her naked for about 20 minutes just dancing by herself in the shower...to rap...

so what if the idea has been written before. if you're writing it, it will still be unique. all romances are written the same girl meets boy, girl and boy fall in love and live happily ever after. your gift is your writing and you will be able to add your own individuality to it

You'll know when you have a good story and it will come from within. No matter how many times we've seen/heard/read it before, love is a subject that will never be predictable.
