Go to Start Menu, then Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools.
Do a system Restore and set it back to a couple of days so that you can get it back to way it was.
Sometimes after a blackout or a power outage, if you dont have a surger protector, you can really screw up your system. You might need to reinstall windows if system restore does not work.

Well, if you don't have a surge protector and something causes your electricity to do something other than what it is expected to do, your computer is not safe and can have physical problems happen to it. You will have to elaborate on what else your computer does or does not do as well as give your operating system, type of computer, amount of memory that you use and anything else that might help in figuring out what is wrong with your computer. I'll need specifications. So will the computer store that you go to get it fixed. If you give the specs here, most people can help a little better with more information.

Could be a number of things. From now on, make sure you are hooked up to a surge protector. I'd try replacing the power supply first. Then the RAM, then the Hard Drive, then the CPU, then the motherboard. Do so one at a time until you find a fix.

It seems like there is some Internal Hardware Problems.
Here is a link to download a System Diagnostics software that will scan you hardware. Download and install this in Safe Mode, if you can.

If you have system restore enabled the go back to time before power failure. If that does not work, try reinstalling windows keeping all files. If that fails then you will need to do a new install of windows (and will loose your data and program files) OR restore back to factory config if that is an option

sounds like you have some corrupted system files. This can happen if Windows isn't shut down properly (like from a power outage). Try re-installing Windows.
