He is the typical pilot personality. Self-centered, aloof, and always right. He constantly finds fault in me, never is complimentary.

He is a great dad, but an awful husband. I have two great kids: 9 & 5. Any pilot wives who read this may also have insight.....

First of all he needs to know how he makes you feel...He also at the same time needs to understand you are who you are and have been the whole time he has known you...If he will change and give you the respect you deserve and make you happy then stay with him....If he does not want to hear what you have to say and don't care then go through with a divorce..
Life is too short be happy...

My Father was a pilot and nothing like you described. The only bad thing was that he was gone a lot. On the other hand, when he got home, he was home for a while. Sorry, I can't help you with this one. Hope it works out for you.

You shouldn't get divorced without being able to tell your kids "I did everything I could to save this marriage" -- because if you do get divorced, it's gonna completely shatter their world, even if it's a "good" divorce.

Find a good marriage counselor and give it a year or two. Go, even if he refuses to -- he will eventually go with you, because he'll want to tell his side of the story to the counselor.

There's no such typical pilot personality and I know first hand. Sorry, but it is not the pilot in him that makes him insensitive to you.
