As a whole, our country dedicates itself to bettering the children of other countries without taking time to take care of our own. Are we never going to have enough compunction to realize that we have children abused, killed, molested, sick, impoverished, living on the streets, in cardboard boxes, cars, and under bridges? That are children, our future, is being neglected beyond the point of no return? Do we not owe it to the children HERE to be responsible and caring, and lif them up from their circumstances to a higher place of living and learning with love? Will this country be like the ones we help, and ignore their own? How can we justify mass support for children of other countries while we ignore our own?

Classic republican answer the first guy gave. When we give to other countries we call it "aid". To ourselves, a "hand out". We spend billions of dollars on the space program so astronauts can joyride while children starve in the streets. Government waste is at atrocious levels yet let someone suggest we help those less fortunate and everyone is up in arms. All the christians seem to forget that we are supposed to help each other, to look at everyone as if they are Jesus and act toward them as we would him. So many people seem to think that poverty is a result of laziness, when that is not always the case. Sure, you can get a job working at a fast food place to support your kids, but will that one job pay the rent, or house payment, the utilities and buy food, clothing and other incidentals? How about child care? Then lets consider the dead beat dads out there, that seem to think its a badge of honor to have kids but when it comes time to pay, shirk their duties. They leave sole support on the mother's shoulders while the courts slap them on the wrist. Yes, there are people that abuse the system, there are people that abuse any situation from employees that steal from their workplace, people who cheat on their taxes, etc. I would much rather my tax dollars go to taking care of those children and less fortunate than spending it in other countries, on an unjust war, on another space mission, on a $400 hammer, or a study of the mating habits of fruit flies. This country is supposed to be one of the richest on earth, we hand out money like we have an endless supply, yet our own people go hungry and cold. It is a disgrace.

Do we ignore them? How many government and charitable organizations are aimed at helping those kids? I myself have spent my days and nights out on the streets helping these kids you speak of, have YOU?
Many don't want help and still many more are drug addicts. Whole police divisions are assigned to just child abuse and molestation. These acts are not accepted in our society or even in prison societies ( guessing you've never done any charity work in any penal system either).

The ONLY agreement I have with you would be the condition of inner city and very rural schools.

Yes, we do owe it to our children to be responsible and caring...it's not my government's job to do that...it's their parents. Unfortunately, there are too many parents out there that are too young to be responsible for the children they bare either emotionally or monetarily. Once people begin to think as you do and realize that it's about time to give a damn about the kids we bare, things will change. But it's their "right" to have children and have the government do the rest.

Does government need to take over the entire role of the parents? Enough is being spent, enough is being dedicated, now it would be nice if those entructed to protect the kids would do their job and be held accountable.

Maybe Mommy and Mac Daddy have a little responsibility - you think.

Maybe it's time for them to get off their lazy *sses and support the children they keep popping out.

Sorry, but after 60 years of welfare - enough is enough.
