He's got the burden of proof whether he sent it or not. Examine it carefully to make sure he put it in exactly right.

There are a lot on uninformed answers here. Bottom line is you can't prove it.
* Not everyone keeps a copy of all emails sent. This is a feature that can be turned off and on.
* Are you sure he has the correct email address? He can always provide an address he says he THOUGHT was the right one.
Best bet is to send an email to his and have him respond to it. That way, there is no way he can claim he has the wrong address.
EDIT: frontmann2004 - Thank God our justice system doesn't work like you describe. You must prove an accuser did or did not take a certain course of action. And, just for your edification, MANY people routinely clean out their sent folder when emails are considered no longer relevant. Just takes one mouse click to clear it all out.

Certain e-mail systems have an option where you can senda copy of a sent message to yourself (ex. hotmail). Others have a verification on the e-mails stating that they have been opened and received (AOL).
You can also send Blind Carbon Copies to other people at the same time. The receiver of the e-mail should not see who is under the BCC, so you could use that as a means of verification.

Wow, what a good question.. I don't know of a way to prove he never sent them. Can he prove he did? Things do get lost in cyberspace.
I would just go with...."EX-dear, evidently there is problem with our emails. I have set up a NEW email address that will be used for JUST YOUR MAIL TO OUR SON. Here it is. You can send me a Copy if you like to make sure one of the messages get though."

there are numerous ways. you can have a court official check the father's sent/outbox to see if he actually sent them. you can have a court official check your sons inbox/trash/deleted trash to see if he ever really got them and deleted them, or he just didnt. or the easy way is to blame yahoo for not sending the messages, and get a different e-mail address/user for your son and ex to use to make sure it works.

Ask you husband to print out copies of the sent messages
All sent messages have the to and from address in addition to the time and date
If he has sent messages they should be in his out box

Ask your ex to cc you or, better yet, a neutral third party every time he sends an email to your son.

ask him to go to his sent box...open it...then print the screen and you will see if he sent emails to you or your son.
If he says he deletes them...that is bull sh&t. Why would anyone be so diligent about deleteing emails to their son.
I think the burdon of proof should be on him. HE SHOULD PROVE HE SENT EMAILS.

I don't think you can. Either he is lieing or someone has erased them. I'm not sure you can prove they were or weren't sent. Unless he has his SENT file sent on. He can prove he sent them either.
