Write about what you know and experience. Write about your emotions...or write a club banger. But my best advise would be to write about what is true to you!

A good tune is best made with a catchy melody. Something you can whistle, hum, or tap.....
Then add a great groovy beat....
And finally some words to make sense of the melody.
Start making up words and sing a random made up tune.....

Think about why "mary had a lil lamb" gets stuck in your head. think about the melody. Or any folktune you learned growing up. Even london bridge.
Now think about that crap-band called Stained and all of their vocal melodies. I can't stand them yet I probably know the words to all of their songs. Their sales would indicate that they write "good tunes."
repeat...repeat with variation... repeat with more variation... repeat with more variation.
Now you have written a "good tune"

First write a hundred bad ones. If you have any talent, you'll get better.

you just do. that knowledge lies in your heart and sole, if you sing/play it, and you really FEEL it, you know its good. you dont need to rely on others to tell you that, cause its what YOU think that matters!
