Why is this man the most powerful president in history? I mean, he has been blamed for everything from natural disasters to terrorist attacks, to gas prices skyrocketing, social security going broke! He must have been the mastermind behind ever president we have ever had since he was born to be responsible for all of these things!! Perhaps it is time that American citizens stop blaming our President for every thing, and look at how the government is really run!! Ask your representatives in Congress and the House about THEIR accountability as well! I'm not a Republican, nor am I a Democrat, Not a Liberal, nor a Conservative, I AM AN INDEPENDENT, and I hold all representation accountable for their actions! I know that our president alone does NOT run this country, and that the other representatives in offices voted in by us at the polls are NOT holding up to their responsibilities. If you want REAL change, then vote those in power out and start with some one new. Send a message!

No, you are right, he didn't do it alone. His running mate had something to do with it also. I don't know how old you are but this is how that stuff works: Whenever a situation gets totally out of hand, even if it's been going on for decades, whoever is at the helm at the time of the sh*t storm is the one who gets the blame. It doesn't matter if it's democrat or republican. Actually most of the economic hardships facing this country right now is the result of Reaganomics- but the trickle turned into a tinkle(they p*ssed on us) Believe me, John Kerry wouldn't have made any difference. They are all part of the same club anyway. Lyndon Johnson (a dem) was every bit as a crappy president as Bush ( both from Texas, hmmmm). The difference was during Vietnam ( Johnson's war) we also had this Great Society deal. Big time welfare. But also different was the fact that America was also an industrial giant so we had much more money to waste. Since all the good jobs have gone to Mexico and China now, we have to borrow money to pay for Bush's war and things like food stamps and Medicare suffer. Hungry and sick people are very vocal and that's why you are hearing all that Anti- Bush talk.

1. Because all three branches of government are of the same party which basically gives that president an enormous amount of power.

2. Because after the decline of the Soviet Union, we are the last remaining super power of which he is the leader = an enormous amount of global power.

3. Because he is the leader of the country with the largest military in the world.

Get the drift... there are reasons ppl say that.

You make an excellant point - actually about a dozen of them.

People are so hell bent on defeating the Repbulicans they will not admit to one good thing he has done and there are plenty of good things.

I am an Independent as well so maybe that's the answer. People have to pull their own biased, self serving agenda out of their butt along with their heads to be able to see things as they are and not how they would hope them to be.
