My 1999 Chevy Suburb will no longer start. It had, in the past, started routinely although every month or so, it would not for a day or 2, then would start like nothing was wrong..

I changed the fuel pump and fuel filter, no help.

The battery is good.

The engine always turns, but will not catch. When I finally turn the key to the off position, it tries to cach for a second or 2, but will not turn over.

It was intermittant, but now its permanent. 114,000 miles. Suburban is a 1500 model.

I would try renting a code reader from AutoZone, the tools rental is free as long as you return it. You should get a code that will tell you where the problem is at.

Good Luck

Chevys in the 1999-2003 models have had problems with the starter gears not properly catching the main flywheel and also they have been known to have bad coils. I would start small and check your coils and tune-up components. Then I would look further and look at the starter mechanisms. A recall for something like this has been issued for 2002 Cavaliers, but I cannot tell you if the same has been issued for your model. Good luck!
