well, because of my birth control, my period only lasts 3 days, and i dont really have any symptoms of pms until a couple days before. which is because i know its coming, so i get really irritable. if you have bad cramps, start taking midol, motrin (whatever you take for menstrual cramps, and bloating) about a week before you expect to get it. my periods before this birth control were so bad i couldnt get out of bed for the 6 days i have my period, and doing THAT at least helped a little.

I have had PMS since I was about 15 and I am 40, cramping bad, moods are awful now, period only last 3 days but seems the whole PMS is 3 weeks. I cramp 7to10 days before, back pain, take any over the counter if real bad ask for prescription, can't think of name,
birth control pill can really help moods, regulate it and cramping, but be careful about blood clots and your age I had a clot and had to stop them right when I got on the right pill and they were really making a wonderful difference in my cramping and moods were much better and depression and crying was really better. Hang in there and go to a Gynecologoist not just an MD. Try different things It took me a year but was well worth it once I got on the right pill (takes 4 to 5 months to know if it is going to help).
PMS is real and don't let anyone tell you it isn't. Don't wait to take midol, or Premysyn Over the counter meds until your period starts, take them when symptoms appear. Keep track of your periods and take the meds when you start cramping, I take midol and premysyn (hard to find). Try what works for you. Tylenol won't help.

For me I get mild cramps about a week or a day before mine, but never during, and I am in a really bad mood about a week or a day in advance. I think you can take medicine now, but I am not sure.

I have gotten PMS before my period and it is very painful. The cramping and the bloating makes you feel awful. You can try Motrin for Menstral Cycles or maybe some Aleve will make you feel better. I have taken Women's Tynenol before, it helps some. Also, try walking or doing some house work and it takes your mind off of your cramps.

PMS usually starts a week before your period does

You can always take Ibuprofen (Motrin) or Naprosyn (Aleve) for cramps, but be sure to follow the instructions carefully and take with food.
Yes, PMS can start as early as 7 days before your expected onset.
By the way if it is just cramps it is not really PMS.
Also there is a chance that your cramps are not coming from your reproductive system but elsewhwere in your abdomen.

some people don't get PMS at all. there not really a set time limit before it, if it happens it could be a day before or as you say a week, though a week is not all together uncommon

sweetie, wait till you get your period before taking anything, your putting your cart before your horse lol, some women never cramp or have pms. wait and see how yours will effect you, each is diffrent.. i myself do get pms about a week before and no cramps.i get very upsett and can not stand myself or anyone else at that time lol!, but when you do get yours you can get over the counter meds. to take the edge off. if you have any trouble , maybe you will not? many of my friend just breeze right through theirs:), good luck and GOD BLESS.
