Male bees = DRONES, do not sting since they don't have the apparatus needed for that. They live for one purpose only, to mate with the queen and then die. The female, aka worker bee is the one that leaves the nest(aka hive) finding food and she has the stinger. And she DOES die should she sting a mammal with skin thick enough to make her lose her stinger. Should she sting a thinner skinned animal she'll live to see another day.
All this is provided you are talking about honey bees, right?

The drone honeybee (if that's what you mean by bee) does not sting. The same apparatus that turns into the stinger in the queen and the female worker bee (which is the ovipositor in the queen and the stinger in the female) is the penis (technically it's termed an endophallus) in the male.
So if a drone is "buzzing you" you can ignore it.

I think that, technically, they CAN, but since bee colonies are dominated by mainly females (the males--drones-- are only there to mate with the queen), if you got stung by a bee, it probably was a female.

All the bees who come out of the nest are male. If you mean wasps, don't know.
