Iam an Emergency Room nurse and every year I see people who blow off some fingers or other body parts. Last year we had a guy who thought he had a dud in a big tube, so he bent over it to look in and blew most of his face off. He died. Be careful and dont pick those things up with your bare hands when they are lit!

I heart that Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's brother got his fingers blown off by fireworks. I also read that George Bush jnr. in his younger days used to stuff fireworks in frogs mouths. So I guess the frogs were hurt:(

In the Phillippines kids in the slums lose their hands all the time from holding fireworks for too long, or their feet by getting hit by ones that fly along the ground.
They can't pay for good fireworks so they often just explode in their hands.
Then they can't pay for hospital so the wounds get infected and gangrenous.

A few years ago, at a backyard party, a huge firework tipped over and shot massive sparks at me. I jump, thank goodness, and the shell exploded beneath my jump, the evidence apparent on the lower portion of the bathing suit I was wearing. thank goodness for swimming pools. Beyond that, all shall be left to your imagination.

Someone threw a firecracker in the window of my grandpa's car as he was driving by and it blew out his right eye. He had a glass eye the rest of his life. He showed me his eye socket when I was a little kid. That was a weird sight. (no pun intended lol)
