Everyone develops on their own timetable.

Twelve years old actually seems a bit young to be having a period.

Young women who are highly athletic seem to have a slower rate of physical development.

If you are still concerned, please have your parents take you to a doctor.

I didn't have mine until I was 17! I even went to a doctor when I was 16 because my mother thought something was wrong with me. Most of the other females in my family started when they were 12 - 13. The dotor said it seemed to come later because of stress. If you have an excessive amount of stress (like eath in the family, stalkers, or any other crime activity), & don't have it by the time you are 16, then I woul see a doctor. It is no fun anyways with the cramps, bloating, constant going to the bathroom to check there is nothing on your pants, & the embarassment of not having any pads/tampons when you o start! Enjoy life while you can beore it starts!

No! It is not strange at all. Many girls don't start until they are 13, 14, or even 15. Don't worry about it at all. When it comes, it comes.

The on-set of mine was at age thirteen, my older sis at 12 and younger sis at ten. I think it depends on how skinny you are...the skinnier the later....just a conclusion from experience and observation.

Not at all! I've read that body fat precentage signals your body and hormones to kick in with your period.....if you are very athletic and have a low body fat percentage, it might take longer for your period to start.

Since the average age is about 12.8 years, it isn't strange at all. In fact, it is normal.
