I could pick out 5 since 1970 real easy.

Up through the 50's almost every comedy movie was very good.

Blonde and Dagwood
The Andy Hardy series with Judy Garland.
All of the Road To movies by Hope and Crosby

There are so many great ones to remember it's causing me to have a brain fart.

Bringing Up Baby (Cary Grant & Katherine Hepburn -- 1938)
Duck Soup (Marx Brothers -- 1933)
Kind Hearts and Coronets (Alec Guiness in ALL the supporting roles - 1949)
Ball of Fire (Gary Cooper & Barbara Stanwick - 1941)
The Court Jester (Danny Kaye - 1956)

I'd include Swingtime (Fred & Ginger -- 1936) on the list -- but it is more of a musical than a comedy

Three Stooges, I Love Lucy, That Show of Shows, Colgate Comedy Hour, The Honeymooners.

Arsenic and Old Lace (wasn't that Cary Grant?). Just the look on his face alone when he finds the poor old man's body in his aunts' living room is worth watching the movie. But the insane uncle who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt digging the Panama Canal in the basement is hilarious. Truly one of the funniest movies ever.
Edward G. Robinson's gangster comedies are pretty funny, too.
