It's okay if you want to take a chance on breaking your teeth.

Well this is 2006 and I'd say yes it's ok for girls to do anything boys do. And while they do make magnetic fake piercings, tongue piercing is very real and a needle actually goes through your tongue followed by jewelry. This is perhaps the most painless piercing ever even though no one thinks so when they hear about it...ask anyone who has had it done by a professional.
The process is as follows, you fill out paperwork and they copy your ID (if your 18, and if your not they aske for your parent or legal gaurdian).
Then you rinse with an antiseptic mouth wash (medical grade)
Then your piercer will mark the spot that they think will be best (some don't mark)
then they will clamp your tongue with pre sterilized clamps (it will be unconfortable but not too bad, you will however drool everyone does)
Then they will lift your tongue and check the veins for placement if it is all clear they will tell you to take a deep breath then when your ready to exhale they will take a pre-sterilized 14 gauge tri beveled piercing needle and push it through your tongue.
Resist the urge to pull your tongue away, for they have it clamped and it will only hurt you if you pull away.
then they will take the barbell and put the end of it in the needle and push the needle out with the jewelry so the jewelry slides in at the same time.
Some piercers remove the clamps at this point some do not, I do.
then they screw the ball onto the bottom of the jewelry (some remove the clamps now)
then you are done and ready to heal your new piercing.
Your piercer should give you the aftercare lecture and written instructions at this point.

Hey! It's totally cool for a girl to have her tongue pierced! I've (i'm a girl by the way) had my tongue pierced for about 4 years now!! The process works like this. It really is pierced for starters, its not a magnet. If you have it done, go somewhere thats very clean and sanitary. What they will do 1st is look at your tongue to make sure its long enough, they'll look under your tongue to see where your veins are. Then, if they are satisfied, they will pierce it. They pierce it in the middle of your tongue. 1st, they make you hold Listerine in your mouth for about 30 seconds. This steralizes your mouth, and it kind of numbs your tongue too. This is actually the worst part of the whole process. Then they blot your tongue with a paper towel, and draw a dot where they will pierce it. They they will take clamps, and it will feel like they're going to pull your tongue completely out, then they stick a needle through your tongue, and screw the tongue ring onto the needle, and pull the tongue ring through! Sounds terrible, but to be honest, it didn't hurt me at all. It felt like someone was just squeezing my tongue. And also, biting your tongue hurts a whole lot worse than getting it pierced. I didn't believe that, til I got my done, but its true! Anyways, hope this helps!!

Having the tongue pierced is an actual piercing. A good friend of mine has her tongue pierced and I have seen her take the stud out and put it back in. The piercing goes all the way through the tongue. I think it is fine for girls to have their tongue pierced, I especially like it but we won't get into why I like it so much.

Is it okay? Is it socially acceptable?

Mine is defiantly not a magnet, and I am definitely a girl. Its okay as long as you're 18 or have parent permission.

When I got mine done they had these tongs with a hole in them and hold out your tongue with it. Then they mark where they are going to pierce, then they pierce with a big hollow needle, then put the jewelry in. Its a pretty neat experience. And yes. It does hurt, but only for a little bit.

They do actually peirce your tongue. The guy that did mine did it so fast it was over before I knew it. The pain really starts with the swelling. I ate yogurt and ice cream for about 2 weeks. They put a clamp on your tongue that looks like small tongs the ends have a circle . The needle goes through the circle from the bottom. Then the bar is inserted pushing the needle out. They attach the ball on the end by screwing it onto the bar and your done. Yes in my opinion its fine for girls to get tongue rings I have one and so does my daughter.

Me and my wife both have our tongues pierced. There is nothing wrong with having it done. If you can last the intial pain and swelling of your tongue and not wanting to eat anything other than ice and cheese, lol, you'll be okay. Just make sure to keep it clean regularly with listerine.

Whoever told you it was a magnet needs to get their head checked.

I don't know how they pierce it, but it is very bad for your teeth. It is not a magnet because if it was, it wouldn't stay on your tongue half of the time, and you could swallow it. I suggest that you don't pierce it, but you can do whatever you want, it is your tongue.

I have mine pierced and they do use a needle about the same size as the needle they draw your blood with. Mine didn't hurt when they did it. How ever it did a few weeks after because it was swollen because I was eating dairy products. I will tell you that you need to eat lots of ice. No Dairy At All. Wash your mouth out after eating stuff you can eat. I use Scope. I have never herd of magnets lol that's funny.

Ya really think that a magnet is going to work inside your mouth? Its a peircing jst like anywhere else. Alot of people males and females have it done. I myself have had my tongue peirced although it didnt last too long at all as it started to sweal too much for me and I took it out. Although there are those out there that dont have any problems with it. If you are interested getting it peirced go talk to a peircer they can explain what the procedure is and what all it takes to care for it ect..

yeah its okay.but you must be 18 in some states to have it done.the one thing you have to think about is the pain and swelling of the tongue.it hurts really bad and forget about eating for a day or 2.also a few people has gotten infections and Ive heard of doctors removing part of the tongue.i also know of people swallowing their tongue jewelry.make sure you really want to do this before hand.if you really want it go for it but follow all after care directions.
