It means to be the kind of person you want other people to be. If you expect those around you to be respectful, honest and trustworthy...you have to be that way too. Of course I can agree with it...leading by example is one of the best ways to get someone to do what's right.

"Be that which you require," is in a way an extension of the golden rule ("do unto others as you would have them do unto you"). It means to be completely clean of hypocrisy and that if you expect others to behave a certain way, you can't make excuses for yourself. Anyway, I figure you catch more flies with honey, so if you want good things, do good things. The best way to get a good friend is to be a good friend. "Be that which you require," means that you cast the beam from your own eye before pointing out the speck in someone else's.

Be as good as I wanna be. It doesn't say be a good as I can be only what I require to get by.

"Be that which you require-" to me, means that humans exist by their need to consume.

You are what you eat.... buy, consume, wear, etc. etc.
