This is from Glaxo-Smith Kline the makers of Seroquel:

Who Gets Bipolar Disorder and When

Genetics may play a role in bipolar disorder. More than two-thirds of people with bipolar disorder have at least one close relative with the disorder (or with unipolar major depression). Bipolar disorder usually appears in late adolescence or early adulthood, but it can appear in childhood or later in life. Women and men get bipolar disorder equally, but there are some gender differences. Women with bipolar disorder may have more depressive episodes than do men with bipolar disorder. Men are more likely to start with a manic episode, whereas women's first episode is usually a depressive episode.

And this is from PENNSTATE - Milton S. Hershey Medical Center - College of Medicine

Who gets it?
Both children and adults may develop bipolar disorder but most commonly, the disorder develops from adolescence through the early twenties. Studies have shown that people who have family members with emotional disorders may be more susceptible to bipolar disorder. Many patients with bipolar disorder have a history of substance abuse. A possible biological cause is the presence of calcium build-up in the cells of bipolar patients. Bipolar disorder is just as prevalent among women as men although their symptoms may vary.

The links to the above information are shown below.

So I guess the answer is no. Guys and Gals have the same chance of being bipolar.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Terry

I think so, of course most are unaware. Unlike females who expresses their feelings. Guys tend to hold back their feelings. So there you have it. Mood swings. Keep it a secret but my bf has major mood swings. Aka: worse stage bipolar.
