Why are people that answer my questions have to be so mean?

I said who thinks my avatar is pretty. I get a lot of nasty replies. That is not very nice. Stop being mean to me! I'm only a kid!

I agree that it's not very nice when people answer friendly questions rudely. But come on, you're setting yourself up for attacks if you come across as needy, slutty, or ignorant, no matter how harmless or cute you try to act.

Let's face it, if you're trying to gain respect, you're going about it the wrong way. You're not doing yourself any favors by having an avatar name that features the word "kinky" in it. People read that and they already think you have low self-esteem and that you try to seek reassurance by acting like a s*l*u*t. On top of that, if you're so needy that you have to shore up your self-confidence by asking people if they're attracted to you AVATAR, then people may feel that someone who exibits that sort of behavior is just begging for an insult.

It's as if we were holding philosophy class and all of a sudden some bimbo cheerleader comes up and says, "Hi, I'm Bambi! Do you guys like my outfit?" and then sticks her butt in your face. The fact that she acts all innocent and young and naive doesn't excuse her obnoxious, superficial, egotistical behavior.

If you don't want people to be mean to you, change your name to something more respectable, and don't ask ignorant or needy questions.

By the way, you are to be complimented on your spelling and punctuation. Perhaps you're smarter than you let on. I imagine that if you put that intelligence to good use and try to use your good spelling and grammar to impress people rather than relying on a sleazy name and a sexy avatar, and people will start treating you with a little more respect.

Why do you care what people think about your avatar? Do you go looking at them all the time. They are all cute but none of them look real. My 15 year old niece is fooling around with yahoo answers. Her mom lets her. She picked a really suggestive name and got her feelings hurt by the rude answers she got. Maybe show the answers and questions to your parents when you want advice. If you want an answer to make you feel better, maybe talk to someone your own age in person.

Sorry, doll, but unfortunately too many of those in the world. I too am very sensitive even though much older than you..still am. I do this and have found it to be helpful. When I am starting my day in the morning, I visualize (or picture in my mind) that I will have a great day and meet with only those people who are helpful and supportive to me. And guess what? Everytime I remember to do this, I have a great day with the best people. Mysteriously all those mean and nasty ones seem to disappear...now I just have to remember to remind myself of that every day...try it it works! All the best..

There are many people on Y!A who are feeling hurt and angry inside. We may never know why they feel that way, but unfortunately, some of them use Y!A to lash out. They choose us to pick on because they know we can't see them. Pretty cowardly and pathetic, don't you agree?

Mean people will always be out there. Just remember who you are and be true to yourself. Always try to do what you know is right, and above all, don't take it out on innocent people when you're having a bad day. Nobody likes it, nobody deserves it.

By the way, I think your avatar is very nice, an excellent choice. =)

Who cares if your avatar is pretty - it's a fake computer picture that most likely looks nothing like you?! Asking that questions shows that you're a kid, and I guess people just don't like dealing with childish questions!

oh i know dont you just HATE when people feel the right to be mean for no apparent reason just because nobody knows who they are and theyre not actually saying the things to your face?
that is why i have gotten into SOO many fights with people over the internet (like im and myspace) because they start treating me like dirt and using every cuss word on me just because they can and i cant see them. and i dont take it.
i bet if you were actually standing in front of the people who were mean to you and asked them if they liked your avatar, they would probably suck up and say 'ohh yesss its LOVELY'

Because they have anonymity and are likely too cowardly to make such statements in person. Feel sorry for people like that, as they must lead a very shallow tortured existence. I would recommend that you don't ask such questions in the future, as it will invite all the idiots to comment, often negatively. I am sorry to say this, and I understand that you are young, but it sounds a tad vain, and you might want to ask a question that doesn't involve what your imagined persona looks like.

I'm not sure why people are that way. My daughter talks about that Avitar thing too all the time. But I have no idea what it is.

Does it have anything to do with Neopets? I know she likes that a lot.

Try praying for these people who are mean to you and pray that you don't turn out just like them!
