The grocery store near me has a big collection bin for food for homeless charities. I try to leave food when I can, but I wonder, how do you know that the food store itelf isn't just reshelving the food to resell? (it wouldn't suprise me if some of the grocery stores I've visited would do this.)
Just pondering.

A grocery store can't resell the items that are for charity mainly because of a different UPC code. Even if they did....Give from the heart and God will reward you

I don't know if there is a for sure way, but the store where I shop is open 24/7 and customers would soon notice if donations left for charity were being reshelved and sold again. Besides, most grocery stores here can be trusted to be honest about it.

Take a sharpie permanent marker and put a slash mark on it.
Seeing it marked, the store won't be able to resell it.

A reputable store would not even take a risk of that!
