There are two layers on most of that stuff. The outer will be the plastic, that usually pulls off easily. The next its the tin film/adhesive layer. The easiest way to remove that is with a razor blade, then clean any residual adhesive with straight ammonia.

If you use the razor blade on the rear glass with a defroster, you will ruin the elements. There are different techniques to remove those, but there is no guarantee they wont break an element or two!

If it's factory installed, you can't because it's in the glass. But, if it's been stuck on there, you can peal it off. Use a razor blade to help and start pealing it back from a corner.
