I purchased a vehicle out of state about 1 1/2 yrs ago. I was given a copy of the title and was told that the original would be sent to me. I was advised the title was sent to me 2 weeks after the purchase but I never recieved it. Therefore there is no record of a title transfer. The title is still in the previous owners name. I have tried contacting the previous owner and their relatives and have not been succesful in anyway. Is there another way to get a title without them being involved. I have a paper trail showing that the previous owner sold it to a dealership and the vehicle was then sold to me but the D.M.V. wont take it. Is there another way of getting the title in my name? What about a bonded title? Please explain what exactly a bonded title is.

ok pay attn! is the car valuable,if yes go to dmv in the state it was purchused and do a title search, also if it is newer car go to dealer service department and ask them nicely to run the vin #,that will tell you what date the car was put into service and where for free, once you have tracked down the owner(if it turns out different than people YOU bought it from) call them and nicley ask if they are still trying to sell that brand x car the have, they are going to say no we already sold it to so and so OR they are going to say it was stolen(pay phone).if they say stolen you say oh sorry and contact cops and give them the car,if they say so and so bought it and he is draging his feet call dmv in that state and tell them car was abandoned 18 months ago and you need a title to sell it or to get plates-if it is NOT worth much and you dont think anyone is looking for it just take bill of sale to your dmv and REGISTER ONLY ,get plates and insurance and call it good-you dont need title to get plates just to sell it-

take all the paper work you have to tour DMV, and apply for a lost title, and hope that there is not a lean on the car

you need to talk to the dealership again & contact that state DMV and ask them the same question and what paper work you need to clear.
