I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Luckily, there IS a free trial. To use PowerPoint, you need to download the Microsoft Office 60-day free trial, which can be found here: http://microsoft.order-10.com/OfficeStandardEdition/welcome.aspx?id=enusdl
PowerPoint is included in the package.
Don't download PowerPoint viewer (from that other link), that's different. Make sure to supply the correct email address so you can activate your trial with the product key they send you. Otherwise you'll only be able to view slides. I was a bit confused by that. Anyway good luck with your project.
