Tricky question. Not as simple as it seems, due to all the historical baggage associated with the word.
Basically communism believes in sharing property (i.e. that all property is public). This doesn't include personal effects like a house, weapons, tools, cars, electronic gear, etc. It does include natural resources such as forests, mines, lakes, rivers, and fishing grounds. It also includes the means of production, such as factories, hydroelectric plants, utility plants, power plants and so on. Communists nowadays also believe in strict equality: not only that all people are equal, regardless of race or ethnic origin or gender, but that no one should be richer than anybody else, which is problematic.
People mistakenly believe that communism was invented by Karl Marx. This is very wrong. Marx tried to make communism scientific. But before him, certain Christian monastic orders and sects held all property in common (in the book of Acts in the Bible the early church members held all property in common). This is a religious form rather than a national form. The Spiritual Franciscans still advocate living without personal property.
In South America, the Incan Empire was a theocratic communist state. About 1750 the Jesuits established a communist community in what is now Paraguay to help organize the local Native Americans, who needed quite a bit of help in resisting slave raids.
In short, there is nothing inherently immoral or criminal about Communism. It's just an alternate way of living. It's the method of implementing it that matters. Karl Marx advocated class warfare, meaning that all the rich should be killed. This is a terrible doctrine and needs to be rejected by all thinking people.

It means a system of government where everyone is equal. It has never existed, the Soviet Union and other countries called themselves communist, but they were really dictatorships. There was always a ruling class, and social classes, in Marx's view there was none, the leader of the country could live next door to a trash collector, and they would both eat the same food. Funny thing is the closest we have ever come to communism is here in the United States, with the "hippie communes" of the 60's who shared everything equally.

Personally, since this is a relative question, communism is when people help the collective unconditionally, and there is no hierarchal structure, like religion, family, or government. The second your born you are to begin helping the community. Ultimately this is a rough idea of what goes down in an ideal communistic regim, and communism hasn't ever existed nor will it exist, its too simple.

Liberals are agents of the right wing; that's why they are called Limousine Liberals. Think of their touchy-feely multiculturalism covering up their hidden goal of cheap labor.
Similarly, Communism was invented by the children of the rich in order to take over the democratic labor movement and pervert it into a dictatorship run by themselves. Communists have the same attitudes as right-wing aristocrats: conceit that they are born to rule and condescending contempt for those they rule. Anyone born with a silver spoon in his mouth, whether he pretends to be left wing or right wing, will always speak with a forked tongue. The Bushes, the Kennedys, the born-rich Nazis, and the born-rich Communists are all the same. Aristocrats have no right to exist.

Communism is a system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy in which a dictator usually holds power claiming progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people. which is the exact opposite of the free enterprise system of the US government. Most of the common people under communist regimes are poor and poverty stricken people who have endured years of torture.

It means 'to share'.
If you had a house where 10 people were living, at the end of the week, they would all come home from work and put their paychecks into a single account, and pay all of their bills out of that account.
Everyone gets what they need, and everyone puts in to help the household.
That's communism.

It's an economic system whereby everyone shares ownership of everything, including equipment, property, and toys, but presumeably excluding stuff like toothbrushes and other things that you wouldn't want to use if it's shared. The only current example of successful pure communism are the kibbutzes in Israel.
