I have proposed creatively in the past, with poor results. What would be the ideal proposal and the setting.

My last proposal was a hand etched, (By Me) Blue stemmed goblet, that had her name and 1-4-3 (I Love You) beneath her name and the proposal on the other side. There is a lighthouse in new england that has had the same pulse patttern for more than 100 years, I thought it was perfect, original and romantic. She turned me down, without any rhyme or reason, no words spoken, she just walked away without explanation. I'm not perfect, by no means. But I am sincere with my affections and I honored and cherished her.
I only ask this question, because I thought it was the manner in which I proposed that might have turned her off....

Being creative is the only way. It lets us know you really put some effort and thought into it.

Romantic evening, soft music playing, and of course down on one knee. I have been married 3 times, without a wedding and it has always been a joint proposal where we both thought getting married was a good idea ( no thrills no surprises) I now have 2 daughters and would like them to have the whole sha-bang. If at all possible, meet the parents, get to know them, and when the time comes, ask them for permission. You will know what the family thinks of you before hand and be able to prove to them you are deserving and at the same time show them you respect them enough to ask. This of course will only work if the bride to be is close to her family. If she could care less think about her favorite things and try to include as many things as possible in the atmosphere that tells her, you went thru alot to make the night special for her, before you get up the courage to lay it all down like rose petals at her feet.

You need to propose the way that will best suit your partner. If they are the traditional type, they might be put off by lots of bells and whistles. If they are really into romance, then a creative touch might be the best. Good Luck!

you must know the person you are proposing to. usually the lady will have given you hints. if she is very traditional then she wants a traditional proposal.if she is a little more modern then maybe she would like to go back to where you both met and had you first date.and if she is totally off the cuff then maybe she would like skyrighting and an engagement ring hidden in her champagne glass. figure out who your lady is! good luck!!!
