I am a black girl who listens to all kinds of music and things. I like to dress diffrent. I am a tomboy. I've never met anyone my race whose liked the thing's that I like. Like my favorite band is korn, I like to watch bmx and people skateboard. I just seem weird and maybe I should of been a diffrent color or race. But don't get it twisted I appreciate being the race that I am since my race has been through a lot. If there's anyone my race who is in to different stuff than your typical african american(especailly if your a female) holla @ me(im me).

I only asked the question, because u hardly hear of african americans(blacks) into anything but rap, hip hop and r&b. I like that music too but others too, I am really open.

do you feel there's something wrong with you? i don't. what's a typical african american taste? you've just added to what you've been exposed to, but you've fallen in to that culture box society tries to identify everyone by, by believing or thinking that something is amiss with your tastes. peoples tastes are as individual as they are and its wrong to pigeonhole someone because of their culture. be yourself...love yourself whatever your tastes.

Now you know that is silly to say you have never known another black to partake in unconvential interests.
I am a black female and I like everything outside of the norm. My favorite type of music is classical rock.. I also listen to country, bluegrass, underground hip hop, Neo-soul, Indie, Pop Rock, Bubble Gum Rock, alternative, some Heavy metal, blues.. just to name a few.
I own a motorcycle and a jeep cherokee.. I fish, hike, camp and bike.. I am a Marine Corps reservist and a conservative Democrat..I am a world traveler and have been to a hand full of countries.. Like you I am an American and very patriotic that is all you ought to be considered with.. live your life to the fullest and try to bring up people to your level .. by elevating their minds to things outside of their small world..

I am a rocker my self and i have had many african american friends that liked the same music and stuff as me. I don't think you are different but I know what you mean about stereo types!! I myself dont fit into anything "group!"
I like what I like and noone can tell me different!

I reported that John D. a$$....don't even let that guy get to you. As for whether or not there is something wrong with you.....absolutely not! You're an individual who likes a variety of different things. That says to me that you are well rounded.....and have a lot to offer yourself and your family, friends and/or significant others.

Just be who you are. Don't try to change just to fit in with the crowd. I don't think there is anything wrong with just being who you are. My cousin in the same way, she is Mexican and she doens't care what people say or might think of her as long as she's happy. So you're not weird, you are unique. Don't try to blend in with the typical crowd. Everything they do is so predictable. Take care and just be yourself.

i love anime and manga, i listen to pop and rock, i dont care for rap but love r and b, and i like to skatebored and i dot care what my freinds or any other person thinks. just cause im black dosnt mean i have to listen to rap and hip hop all the time i do what i want.

i grew up in a black community and i like bands such as evanescence, lincoln park, and more. No, girl. your not the only black person who likes this kind of music.
