I see celebrities wearing dresses that are "vintage" in magazines. My sister sees the magazine and comments: "look at that old dress she is wearing" I am confused.

If something is vintage, it's something that is old retains it's value, whether it's wine, clothing, furniture or a car. A lot of it has to do with the quality of the making of it in the first place.

That's why vintage is worth more, and people collect it. It's rare to find things that have managed to last for so long, and often made in a way that people don't use any more. (or have character that is hard to copy.)

Wine is labeled as vintage, and that is the year it's from. So I think vintage is just a fancy term for something that is old, or styled in the fashion of something old.

vintage and old are the same. Vintage just sounds a bit classier and makes the clothes seem more sophisticated rather than old being something your grandma would wear.

I believe "Vintage" clothing is from an era in history. I believe "Old" clothing is something that's still current, it's just been worn to "Death"! LOL

Vintage is old, but old isn't vintage.
Vintage is something that was fashionable and is fashionable today.

Old is something that is old and not necessarily fashionable
