you don't have to clean your hamter unless it had diarea or has urinated on itself. but if you had to, then just get a really soft cloth and wipe him gently, but don't get his little ears wet! then you towel dry him softly(NEVER LEAVE A WET/DAMP HAMSTER IN A DRAFT! FATAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

When i were little and had one I use to. Put a little bit of water about a half a inch of water in the bath tub. But it in their and let it run around then i would take some of the shampoo that you get in the pet store. And wash him or her and then wash him off and dry him real good.

I just wet mine down with some water and some puppy shampoo. (seems like it's not irritating in any way...) Rinse him off... make sure he's good and warm so he wont catch cold - and i've got myself a cute fluffy non-stinky hamster!
