okay. my period came on the 22nd, and i used pads. then, on the 23rd my mom got me some tampons and i've been switching on and off of both of them. one night, i went to bed at 1 am. when i woke up the next day, it was 11:30. [i do sleep in a lot..] i went upstairs to change my tampon because i had had it in the night before. when i took it out, it hurt really bad. is that just because it was in there so long, and had taken up so much blood? i've still been using tampons and switching from pads [i used an overnight pad last night] and they don't hurt anymore.

There can be a little bit of pain if the tampon hasn't soaked up much, so this is normal. It could also be that you aren't used to them, so there is a slight discomfort. If you had any other symptoms like fever, diarrhea, vomiting, then would be the time to worry about what is going on but what you experienced is very normal.

Sounds like you are fine now. If you get cold or flu symptoms in the next few days, go to the doctor immediately and tell him about the tampon. It could be toxic shock syndrome. I might go anyway if I were you. It should never hurt to remove a tampon, no matter how long it's been since you put it in.

You shouldn't wear tampon's longer than 8 hours at the most. so you probablly got a minor infection. If you find you have more disconfornt or anything see a doctor or gyno because you never know. Also if you start getting a fever, dizzy, or anything else along the line of that go to a doctor immediatly it could be tss

i sleep with them in ,you might have had it in wrong,or not all the way,AND its ok to sleep with them in thats what there for. if it hurts any more like that you might be one of those people that cant use them. get smaller ones next time, that might be the reason it hurt, you have to go by the flow chart on the box too,if the flow isn't heavy use smaller tampons.

don't sleep with them in...it's bad for you to have them in longer than 6-8 hours. read the info about TSS that comes with the tampons!
