OFMG, YES! I watched some hour special about it on National Geographic and was so amazed that a project of such proportion could even exist, so I decided to do a little research and now covet a sector of Dubai coastline! Personally, though, I don't like the shape of the three palm islands - they don't look like palms, really, in the first place. I would love to live there though and think it'd be a great retirement community with so many malls on the "trunk"...water's so beautiful too. Depressing that there are so few of the World Islands left for sale - the one video said Arizona and Paris were still up for dibs, lol. It's also great that Dubailand is being build so incredibly close...gonna be the new destination with, literally, something for everyone.

It's just 2 of the ongoing projects here in Dubai. There is also the Deira Palm project which is similar to the Jumeirah palms. And of course the Burj Dubai development which is slated to be the tallest building in the world and the biggest mall in the whole planet. The perspective of the palm seems good to look at, but I am not sure how the finished products would look like. If it would look like the 3d view i've seen, I don't think it is worth the price. The villas are built so close to each other, probably neighbors can peek into each other's backyards, smell what the other is cooking, hear their secrets and would be on the know what's generally happening next door. I'm not sure if there is a sizeable backyard to plant a date or two or to have one's organic produce. The prices are ranging from US$ 450K for 1,474 sq. ft to US$ 3.5M for signature villas, though the price may still go up. Property prices in Dubai have gone up like crazy especially for the freehold properties and all kinds of investors are coming in to have a slice of the opportunity. The country has a great potential with all the developments going on but it would take years to see if it lives up to its potential. If not, for sure there would be a lot of losers, if it would be, then a lot of people would have missed the train, so to speak.
