I've never been to India, but I know that just wandering the streets in an unfamiliar city is amazingly fun. Wherever you go, try is and you will love it.

The best places of course are all tourist places, It all depends on what your interests are. There are many islands in the South Pacific and the Caribbean that are not very populated. there are great mountains to climb in Kashmir and Afghanistan. There are great diving spots that are off the beaten path in New Guinea, Indonesia and Micronesia. There are great parks to see animals in Botswana and Namibia, all depends on what you are looking for.

In India, plenty of places in the country side in Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, U.P., Sikkim, and Kerala. People are not tuned to explore these places because of shortage of facilities at such places. Those who care least for materialist amenities find these options worth exploring and enjoyable.
