If you have XP Pro, you can log on as Administrator. When the logon screen comes up, press ctrl-alt-del twice, then type the username(Administrator) and password (leave blank, unless you set something else). I think the admin can change your pwd, if not make a new account and copy all your files and settings.

As someone else said, if you have the password for the administrator account, or any admin equivalent user, you can use that user to change the password of another user.

However, even if you don't, you can usually use tools that run under a bootable linux CD distro to go in and change the password file for your user back to something you remember.

You have to use a motherboard from another computer, start up with another motherboard on another computer, pull it up with a known password and then change paswords..I am not sure as to how you bridge the two mother boards. I saw it on my XP but do not remember the correct order.. It only took about 10 minutes.

you should have a question that the system will ask you if you forget your password. Just look for the option "forgot your password?" or something along those lines....hang on, arent you already logged on to be able to use the internet???

Hmm... Since I work with my laptop I never forgot the password.. But my friends told me you must detach the BIOS battery for reset all password... But I think that's only for BIOS directory....

If the limited account forget the password, you can remove it and make the new one... I can't tell you about the admin if lost the password, becasue I never get it...

There are several ways to do this
For security reasons, I cannot post the methods here.

Is this your personal PC?
When was the last time you logged into this PC?
