Tuscan themes usually incorporate wrought iron, rich reds, golds and olive colors.
I would use black metals (wrought iron like) for displays with a rich velvet type material as the base for the display. I would accent with some modern looking grapes (i have used ceramic flowers that I painted purple in my kitchen) or grape vines/leaves i.e. something natural looking.
What are you displaying or trying to highlight on your counter? If you are displaying jewelry~the gold would be wonderful against a deep red background.

nicely, a very cool topic that my college did a at the same time as in the past for a social gathering for the seniors become 007. It turned right into a on line casino topic and had a James Bond component to it. i'd beautify it like a on line casino or a posh eating position.

Maybe some large and small urns/planters with a "patina" finish. Old wine bottles, fake fruit over-flowing out of baskets. I'm thinking along the lines of a "Romantic PIcnic" at sunset in Tuscany!
