Me and a great friend of mine started off being really good friends after we were introduced by some friends at the bowling alley one night. He had just gotten out of a relationship and so had I, so we were both just looking for a friend. I ended up falling hard for eachother several months later, but have decided no to get into a relationship because he thinks "That life is not all about being with somebody. Go to school, get your degree, let me get my life together, and then we'll work on a relationship." He claims that college is a time for fun and that I shouldn't be ready to be too serious right now. What are your feelings/opinions with his suggestion?

he is right. if it is truly love, it will wait for you both to
get your lives together. if it fizzles out by then you
have been spared the trauma of divorce. take it from
me; better a lifetime without a man than 10 minutes with
the wrong one.

If he felt for you the way you apparently do for him, he would not say, "Let's look at this again in a few years." A relationship will always need those involved to "work on" it in the context of life going on. Spend your time with people you find interesting...and none with those you don't. You will find many with whom you are in sync and will find love with one (or some) in good time.

I say forget the in thing. I think he's right. He sees it like me: you'll have plenty of time to make a relationship and do the "in" thing after you get the necessity of a good education an d do the "smart" thing.

From my experience you dont get to choose when you fall in love, with whom, or where. If it is the real thing it wont be ignored. You just have to learn how to study and love at the same time. Hundreds of people achieve it, but I think I would watch him if I were you, be careful you dont get your heart broken.

We all die.

Degrees don't matter when you are worm food.

Procreate - that's how your genetic material lives on - therefore making you live forever (in a way).

Or, he wants to sleep around during college without guilt.
