You will want more RAMS then. It will improve performance and speed for opening up more than 1 application or program at a time on your computer system. If you add up to 1gig to your memory, you will get major speed on your system.

You can find cheap rams at http://www.4allmemory.com I always get my RAMs from that store because its cheap and they have great warranty.

The only other way of upgrading your hard drive would be to either buy another hard drive or get an external hard drive. With an internal one, you will have to install it yourself and open up your motherboard and make it a slave drive. If you get an external one, all you need is a USB port. Its really up to you.

If you increase your memory and add more RAMs, then you wont have any problems with either hard drive upgrade option.

Do NOT try to upgrade the processor in the laptop!

They are not design to be upgraded. Different processors used differrent voltages and sockets. There is a very high probablity that the original BIOS will not recognize the processor. You also have to worry about fitting the heatsink and over heating issues.

You best option is getting a new hard drive or add more RAM. All laptop hard drive uses the same interface so you don't have to worry about compatibility. Any laptop hard drive you buy will works on your laptop. As for the RAM, you might want to see what the sticker says on the old RAM and buy the same.

I'm not sure why you want to upgrade the processor? You already have a Pentium M 730 1.6 GHz laptop with 512MB RAM and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 GM graphics chip.

If you computer is slow then you might need to run a virus scanner and or unload some of the applications that load when the computer starts. Replacing the CPU chip is expensive and might not be possible, as it is likely soldered into the system board.

If you are running games the issue might be that some games require 2GB RAM and that might solve your problem. If it is games check the minimum systems requirements of the games on the game manufacturers website.

Case1
if its Brand NEW only less than 20 days old , Call Dell and get your RMA to return it to DELL, you get 20 days of Return Policy from Dell
case2
my suggestion is to buy new Laptop, because its easy and u get new model for some more money, when compare to upgrade price. Upgrade one laptop is not an easy task, sometimes the u wont get anything to match your specification. if i were you , wat i do is, to put my old Laptop in Ebay or any leading auctions sites. with my price. Lets say u got $800 for your old laptop, you may have to spend another 500 or more to get a latest model (sometimes higher, it depends up on the configuration )

Another thing , u can try upgrade the memory, it will help you slightly, most of the time the changes wont be noticeable by the user(http://memoryten.com). so i strongly recommend u to sell ur old one and get some extra buks for new one
:)

i've got no longer finished tracked down which procs will artwork on your motherboard (and no remember if its hardwired/soldered in as one submit pronounced - it must be), even however curiously like a proc might in all probability run you a minimum of $2 hundred. The memory improve ought to purely fee you approximately $60. in case you have a slot accessible for a GPU, and it does not be too high priced, which would be an considerable improve. My advice is to get the RAM and throw it in there, pass the processor, and see the way it rather is. To spend the greater effective $2 hundred-3 hundred+ on a clean proc can't assist you all that lots, and you'd be greater effective off advertising yours and getting a clean one. i think of you would be greatly surprised by potential of ways lots of a improve the greater effective RAM supply you, relatively in case you have below 2GB now.

laptops aren't generally made to be upgraded like that. if you want speed my suggestion is buy a laptop with all the speed you want. if you cant find what you want (typically because laptops are generally slower than PC's unless you have a massive amount of money to waste) then just go with a PC. but if you REALLY want to upgrade your laptop, you do it VERY CAREFULLY. opening up a laptop isnt a good idea unless you know how to do so without damaging anything. then there is the matter of getting the cpu out. since a laptop is much smaller than a PC i would imagine that they dont use the same means of plugging a CPU to the Motherboard. Ive never opened one up but i would imagine that it would be permanently attached by solder. If you open up your laptop to change the CPU successfully, let me know what its like inside. im curious. twiggy_zippo@yahoo.com
