I think the plants are too close together and I don't know how this will affect production. Any suggestions?

The plants you move may not survive. Why not move one and see if it survives. If it is not dead after a few days you could move more. You also could just remove the excess plants to give the more healthy ones room to grow. You may end up with more squash that way. I understand squash are pretty prolific. If you have a compost pile you could put the extra plants there, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't start growing there as well!!! lol!

Once production starts I advise against moving it. The plant is just too big. You might luck out but I would rather wait a few weeks and keep getting the zucchs.

you can thin the plants out but can't move them. Besides plant now and you will get an early fall crop as well

Don't move them unless you planted them in pots(which I doubt) They will die. Same as allmost any annual.Don't worry about production just water/fert. more if crowded
