Quite possibly. They happen quite often, only a few of them are made as famous as Katrina though. Katrina actually wasn't that big, if you look at hurricane records through the last couple years.

As bad as Katrina was... I know because I don't have a home anymore... this wasn't / isn't the worst it could get... If and when and hurricane is strong enough to drive it's path directly up the Mississippi River... New Orleans will get over 30 ft of water... New Orleans, Metairie, Kenner, LaPlace, Westbank will all be flooded... perhalps beyond repair. We were lucky, this time.

sadly, there is no dout in my mind that a hurricane or other natural disaster will devestate some part of the world

No.but there might be a hurricane but not that big as Hurricane Katrine!

It either will or it won't. I don't think the Earth gives a **** what my opinion is. But......increasing global warming does increase the likelihood. There's more energy on the planet to move around now.

Thanks to global warming, the North American hurricane season is longer and more severe than ever. It's only going to get worse from here.
