Most cell phones are locked for the companies selling them, it is possible with many older phones and those which use sim cards to unlock. Stay away from sprint as the phones are specificly made for them and don't accept sim cards. I don't have site info but there are sites online which can walk you thru unlocking your existing phone.

No they do not come unlocked as a general rule. Occasionally you can find retailers that have GSM phones for sale that are unlocked, I know Intersatte Connections sells Razor phones that are unlocked.

it relies upon on the producer. some telephones are very complicated to launch like the PDA gadgets. the main easy to launch are nokias seeing which you purely enter a code to launch it. purely circulate to google and seek for "distant unlocking" or "nokia distant unlocking"

it depends where u get it from if its from a conapy like tmobile or coingular then its locked to them if its from the web it depends
