My opinion or answer would be that people feel inadequate and it makes them feel good to give out an attitude. It helps them feel superior to lord over others. I have seen many people like this and come in contact with them everyday. There are alot of people that need to see a counselor to get help with their attuitudes.

We live in a very scary world. And it gets a little...perhaps alot...more scary every day. And when people are afraid, they often react in a kind of anger or defiance that helps disguise fear.
Fear is a corrosive emotion. It hides behind masks; masks of anger, religious extremism, denial. And it makes us feel helpless. Anger, we can act upon. Extremeism, we can say "My God, right or wrong!" or "My President, right or wrong!". Denial...well, it's like global warming, doncha know - just a myth.
But fear...sinks deep into our hearts, and eats away at us. So...attitude. I'm better. I'm smarter. I'm prettier. I'm richer. I'm cooler.
I'm all these wonderful things.
And fear can't touch me...

Because they THINK they're all that and KNOW they arent. So in order to feel superior, they have to have atttitude and make others feel like dirt so they'll feel better, and even possibly look better in other people's eyes.
