my parents are getting a divorce and my dad can't move until his work tells him when he can leave. Anyone know how long this can take?

That pretty much depends upon what the company he works for is like. Most companies are relatively lenient about employess who have personal problems, but he may be in a position which is critical for the company. I would estimate no more than a month or two at the latest.

It can take a few weeks to a few months. It shouldn't be more than 2 months though.

Hon? You shouldn't worry yourself with it! Really, there are SO MANY parents that divorce, and ALMOST EVERY KID think it THEIR fault. Things will work themselves out. Don't fret.

Only your father's employer knows for sure.
Even his immediate supervior may not know as it may depend on factors beyond his supervisors control.
