Hell yes. I think they didn't pick him, because his career wasn't long due to injuries. In my book he definitely should've been one of the 50 greatest players

King was an incredible talent.

He played for 14 years, but only made the all star team four times... that, to me, is not a top 50 player.

Had he been 100% healthy for his whole career, and enjoyed a little postseason success, he might have had a shot. His best postseason consisted of a seven-game loss the the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semi-finals in 1984.

He had some incredible surgeries performed on his knees during his career, and came back strong from them. But he just missed too much time in his prime.

I don't know who you'd kick out of the top 50 to put King in. He's not the best player to be left off that list...Dominique Wilkins is. I would also rate Bob McAdoo (also left out of the top 50) as better than King.

btw, the fact that a lot of fans here never heard of him speaks volumes about the quality of ESPN's coverage of sports history.
I'm sure King has never been mentioned on a Sportscenter during this century. But it'll be a long time before Lebron or "Melo" pass King on the all time scoring list, if they do.

Bernard King was an unbelievable talent. I'm still pissed off that the Warriors traded him to the Knicks for that crackhead Michael Ray. And keep in mind he was more of a star than Bernard , who had his own problems. But Bernard could ball. Top 50? No. Because all of his iunjuries took away the time he could've established himself as one of the best. Also, he played for many losing teams which also diminished his accomplishments.
