Illusions are not illusions if we believe in them. They are a reality till they are discovered as illusions.

I looked up "ilussions" on the internet, and found out it's a steroid. So, I guess I believe in it though I hardly approve.

People believe in what they want to believe because it serves some purpose in their life. This is true of many things- God, horoscope, superstitions, (heck, even what your boyfriend tells you fits in with this).... Anything that has an appearance of possibility can be believed if you want it bad enough.

Look at the way some things are written- the bible, horoscopes- they are so open to interpretation..... and they even contradict themselves in different ways and places in the writing. This allows people a lot of flexibility to believe what makes sense to them and serves the purpose they're looking for in life.

I used to be an atheist, then an agnostic. Now I'm getting old and really need a reason to go on despite all the difficulties I've had to face- so I've created a belief to cling to that makes sense for me- my interpretation of "God".

We all do it at times in our lives, and more, I think, as we get older and have experiences we must understand in a way that makes sense to us.

People may believe falsehoods while they are under illusions. However, they do not believe in things they know to be illusions. So the answer to your question is that they don't.
