do single unemployed girls with kids get more than those who are hard working?

I have worked full time since I was 16\- Im now 27. Only recently I have changed to part time as I have had my daughter.

Anyway when i was pregnant I was working full time. I got no help from the state, goverment etc with buying things for my baby, nor did I expect it.

However a friend of a friend who is 19 and never worked a day in her life, got £500 to buy essentials from the goverment????

She actually spent this on drinking and nights out and clothing for herself. This I know for a fact. WHY WHY WHY does she get help?????

Its like saying to the young generation of this country, get pregnant, get unemployed - WE'LL SUPPORT YOU!

No wonder this country is overwhelmed with illegal immigrants wanting to get in! Where a bunch of suckers!

What other countrys do you know that actually gives you money for free??? Dont work, heres a house, heres some free cash, heres money for your kids!!!

All my childhood I was brought up to believe that honesty was the best policy. Well now that I am 24 I can say bollocks to that!!!!!! The hard working honest person gets nothing in this life. Even the illegal immigrants are better off in the UK than the working class. I packed up a f*cked off when I was 22 and moved away. But I still read the papers on line and my opinion is that Britain is screwed!!

Your quite right, they're also discouraging the conventional nuclear family, but nothing will be done about it, since the majority of the country will not vote for someone to stop the benfits. But think about this, if a woman had divorsed her husband would you agree that the man would have to pay child support? She could just get a job? Does it annoy you more that the state is paying for the benefits, or that the woman would not support herself and get a job?

Both my partner and I work. We have five children, three of which are still dependant. From Monday to Friday we hardly see one another due to working long hours and generally being very tired when we do get home. Last week I worked 65 hours with one night away from home as well (truck driver). I myself pay about £150 per week in taxes. My wife about £120. My next door neighbour has five children and has never worked a day in his life. The govt tell us we need immigrant workers to fill the vacancies that the British workers don't want to do ! Does that mean that the likes of my neighbour have been accepted by the govt as hopeless cases and there's nothing we can do about it ? Both mine and my partners taxes are swallowed up with this one families scrounging attitude.

what are you saying? that we should't have a welfare system to support people who are disadvantaged by circumstances?

just because some people do abuse the system doesn't mean that the system is wrong.

and if we were to leave it up to busy-body, opinionated, deluded and poorly informed neighbours to decide who gets benefits, we'd be in a right mess.

I've known plenty of single mum's on welfare and to say that they don't work hard - being a full time mum, coping without the support of a partner and on the piffling amount of assistance that is available from the state, would be considered a major insult.

very few immigrants arrive here thinking that the state is going to provide them with a living - they come here to work hard, doing low paid jobs that we don't want to do, in order to support the families they have left back home.

i live in the UK

this has got nothing to do with immigrants

i am a mother i was in a full time job since i was 15. paying taxes when i became pregnant my company did not want to pay me maternity money so i had to leave i was not going to stay there for free the government helped me get through hard times but i just saw it as getting my tax money back

you should not think so narrow minded

i hope your daughter will never want to re-lie on government money seeing that you hate the government so much and re-lie on you instead

at the moment i am in full time work paying taxes

We should have the same system as the U.S to many freeloaders. If i turned up in the U.S and demanded a house and benifits how far do you think i'd get,i'll tell you they wouldn't even let you out of the airport you'd be put on the first plane back and quite right to.If you then say people already here they chose to have a child so should have the means to support their children.

Because we have a messed up system that seems to believe in looking after our weakest links – sometimes this is good but the 'messed up' part comes from the fact if people are weak links due to being lazy idiots we should just leave them to it – social evolution, if you are too stupid to live, it shouldn't be down to the rest of us to help you and drag ourselves down.

Harsh, but I think I share your attitude towards this, sometimes I REALLY wish I had gotten myself knocked up at 14, I would be living the easy life now rather than living in debt and working a hard job I greatly dislike to get myself out of debt and somewhere to live again...sad thing is if I had done that it would have also meant I could have probably gone to university too, but as it is I don't get the time or money they do so I have to work.

...yeah...I'm bitter.

To a great degree I agree with there questioner.I think Govt in UK needs to take a hard look at these laws afresh and I believe they are in the process of doing so.UK prided themselves to be most benevolent society of immigrants. They have learnt bitter lessons after 7/7 and currently very weary and cicumspect on such issues.

It's mugs like us that work all day, pay tax that's stumping up for these leaches. We would love more kids but we can't afford anymore because of what we already pay out. These bastrads have kids to earn more money! Dump em on the streets with the illegals. If they can't keep their knickers on then that's just their tough shite. Bollox to em.

They can pay me my ******* tax back as well before they clamber into their cardboard boxes.

And say sorry before being sterilised.
