That isn't the issue. Even the elected leaders that oppose gay marriage don't oppose gay rights. Most of them including the President beleive all gays should have the same rights as others.
The issue is the term marriage. It was coined in religion more then 2000 years ago as a union between a man and a woman. The homosexual political lobby is asking the world to change 2000 + years of history for their benefit while ignoring those in office that would grant them all of the same rights.

Seeing an almost 50% divorce rate for straight marriages, maybe they should be banned. People shouldn't worry about whats going on in other peoples lives. People who criticize others are looking to draw attention away from what is wrong in their own lives. Time to leave people alone and let them live their lives in a way that suits them. There's plenty of other issues far more important than sexuality issues for (consenting adults) in life for people to ***** about.

It's elementary school politics. One group of kids doesn't like what the other kids are doing, so they won't let them play.
Or put another way, one group of people wants a monopoly on government benefits for monogamy. They don't approve of what the other people do, and because the first group happens to be in the majority, they think they can impose their religious beliefs on everyone else.
If the Religious Right doesn't want the term 'marriage' to apply equally as a legal term to everyone, then the term 'marriage' should cease to be used anywhere in a secular legal context. Make everyone who wants legal benefits get a civil union. Then, if people want to have the religious benefits of marriage, that's between them and their church. But church dogma doesn't belong as enacted law.

Frankly, homosexual marriage gives credibility to the notion that homosexuality is natural and normal. It is not. Now by declaring that it is not natural nor normal, I do not imply that it is evil or even immoral. It is not immoral because it does not affect me in anyway. I will say that the sexual act is disgusting. Truly homosexuality is some perversion in the psycho-sexual development of individuals who exhibit those tendencies.
And homosexual adoption is further granting credibility to the lifestyle.

It is none of any one else's concern, but it does go against the marriage being between a man and a woman.

I don't see the big deal with gay marriage. If they want to get married, then my god, let them! Then they can suffer like the rest of us married folk! j/k!

Then why do you want them to marry? They cannot procreate so why marriage. Two mentally challenged people united in marriage. I see a welfare check in this somewhere.
