That is a good question, but it is not actually "how many calories you must burn" to lose 1 pound of body fat, rather your total caloric intake must be 3600 calories (give or take) less than your output of calories to lose one pound of fat. Here's an example; lets say your caloric intake is 2000 calories per day and you live a fairly sedentary lifestyle and only burn 2000 calories per day, your weight would not change. Now if you wished to begin "burning fat", all you would have to do is decrease your calorie (kcal) intake by 200 (stop drinking soda for instance) and walk off 300 calories per day. now you are losing 500 calories per day and this may not seem like much but over the course of a year it amounts to over 50 pounds (500 cal x 7 days a week = 1 pound per week x 52 weeks = 52 pounds lost). you may be tempted to go overboard and starve yourself or exercise too much, this simply doesn't work in the long run because it is impossible to maintain this type of regimen. 1-2 pounds per week is safe, healthy, and doable. Thru small lifestyle changes you can definitely lose weight and be healthy, please avoid fad diets and pills, they don't work and they can really harm you. my advice would be to talk to your school nurse or health teacher to get started. good luck.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
