Doctors say it's almost impossible if you use it correctly, but I keep hearing rumors, online and through friends, that everyone knows "lots of people" who have gotten pregnant while taking it according to directions. Please answer, if you have used it, whether you got pregnant or not. Thanks.

Chances are they did not take it as directed. Most girls tell their doctor this because they want to place the blame on someone else for getting pregnant. On RARE occasions, it's true. I've used different types of birth control. I only used Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo to clear up minor acne but I also did not get pregnant while on it. You should try different methods until you find the one you're most comfortable with. Every ones body reacts differently to the dosage in each type.

There is only a VERY small chance that you'd get pregnant if you're taking birth control pills correctly (at exactly the same time every day.)

However, ortho tricyclen-lo is a very low-dose pill, so if you have spotting between periods after your first couple of months on it, I'd advise you to use a back-up method of condoms every time you have sex until you switch to a different pill--sometimes spotting between periods can mean that a pill isn't effective for you.

Listen to the doctors. If someone got pregnant on the pill then they DID NOT take it correctly. Meaning they missed a lot of pills or did not take it around the same time every day.

I've never used the "mini-pill" I didn't like the idea of a BCP that required you to take it at the same time every day to work. With the regular pills, I was fine even if I didn't remember to take one until several hours after I usually did.

If you want a method with lower hormone levels, I highly recommend the Nuva Ring. Very easy to deal with and nothing to remember each day.
