If you wore a bra to bed, would it affect your breast's growing habits if you still developing? I'm 12 and I wear a sports bra. I have since I was 10. I was too scared to ask my mom for a new bra when the ones I had were getting tight, so I just stretched them and adjusted the straps so it fits. Eventually, I got a new one, but I heard it will help your development if you wear a sports bra or ANy bra while you sleep. Is it true?

I don't think it will help your development at your age. I think the rumor you're referring to is that women who are getting older can prevent their breasts from sagging if they wear a bra to sleep -- that rumor may or may not be true, but either way it doesn't apply.
Why are you too scared to ask your mom for new ones? It's perfectly normal and healthy for them to grow, and you can look forward to them continuing to grow in the next few years.

I think it's better NOT to wear a bra to bed, especially if you've been wearing it all day. Apart from it just being more comfortable, your breasts need some "free time" and shouldn't be constrained in a bra 24 hours.

There are all sorts of funny claims about how to enlarge breasts but they don't work. But there are a few exercises you can do to keep the muscles holding them up firmer, which in turn makes them look bigger than if they're sagging. At 12 years old you really don't have to worry about sagging for at least another 20 or 30 years but simple chest exercises won't hurt. Swimming the breast stroke (also called frog style I think) is similar to those exercises.

You can also keep the skin on your chest area young and supple and firm for the same effect, by protecting it from the sun and treating it like you do your face, with the same moisturiser.

No I don't think it is going to matter, but I have a 12 year old daughter and she doesn't have any problem asking me for a new bra. Just go ask your mom for a new one. If you are embarrassed to ask her then write it down on a piece of paper and leave it some place that she will find it. Sometimes it can be hard to ask questions like that, but a note is easier and you can get your point across easier.

Also your boobs are going to grow any way. The only thing that is going to happen is they will hurt from the pressure. I know that wearing under wire bra's to bed could be harmful, but I don't think sports bras will hurt.

Bras are meerly for support.
The only sagging they prevent is by supporting the breast....skin does stretch and improper support will allow this to happen though it will take years.
You don't need to tell your mother that you need new bras, keep wearing the ones you have and when you out grow the ones you have ,the discomfort will encourage you to finally do something.
Wearing bras to sleep in only keep you from from "flopping" around at night.
Now some women who are trying to keep their milk from coming in after having a baby will wear bras or binders but only in an effort to keep their breasts from filling with milk....works great as I have done it twice.
As we get older,it is the breaking down of the internal tissue/fat (pregnancy)that will allow your breast to be less perky as well as normal aging when the skin losing its elasticity.
It is going to happen to all women, the question is how soon and how bad.
Now if you are carrying around breasts that are unusually large, the weight you carry because of the large breast will be the determining factor as to how "saggy" the breast will be and that is why a properly fitted bra is so important because until you are done completely with developing,no one knows what size you are going to end up being.

I don't think it will have any effect on your development at your age. However, older woman who keep their breast bound more tightly or who wear bras regularly have lower rate of breast cancer. Wear a bra that fits you! That's the most important thing you can do fro good development. Oh and by the way you're 12 give it a little time, you'll have boobs soon enough,

Heck no honey I wore a bra all through my middle school and high school years and I'm now a 36 DD. Bra size has to do with genes, and occasionally how much you exercise while developing. Look at ballet dancers, they have no boobs because they're constantly loosing the calories they gain and don't have enough fat left over to gain breasts or sometimes start their period. So I guess genes and environment affect how big some people's boobs get.

This is what almost all of the women in my family do, (we are all pretty busty) and my aunts have stayed remarkably perky into their 50’s

FIRST – wear a properly fitting, well sized, supportive bra. This should be something that holds the girls up, and keeps them supported. Your everyday bras should be under wire, full coverage, and comfy. If your bras lack any of those characteristics – they are the wrong size / wrong bra for you. If your under wires poke you, you are wearing the wrong size. Go and have a bra fitting done for you. If you go to a Leggs Hanes Bali store the sales girls (and guys) are trained to fit your bra properly. I like Bali bras – but sometimes they are a bit lack luster in the fashion department, so I also wear a lot of VS Second Skin Satin bras – they fit me well, provide sufficient support for me (though more would be fine) and come in a huge variety of colors. I HATE Playtex bras. They are ugly, and they SMELL. Avoid them at all costs.

Never wear a soft cup bra for regular daily wear. There is simply not enough support to risk it. Besides, with a properly fit under wire bra, a good supportive under wire is at least as comfy as any soft cup.

Special occasions are special occasions, and require special bras – avoid going braless however – unless that is the occasion.

Second – When doing ANY type of exercise – including things like gardening – or anything else that may cause extra bouncing, wear a good, strong sports bra, something that is capable of holding the girls in and controlling all of the bounce. One of my aunts has been known to wear two sports bras on occasion. An even better solution is to not do any sort of bounce inducing exercise and confine your work-out to the pool. The water prevents you from doing any damage to your breasts (or joints) and provides excellent all over toning and cardio work out all in one.

Third – and this is the real secret – and it is the critical step. Wear a bra to bed. Sleep in a bra every night. This does not need to be a firm support under wire contraption, and it does not need to be uncomfortable at all. In fact – it should be comfortable. No one does a lot of bouncing when they sleep, so all this bra is doing is keeping the girls in place – it does not need to be firm support. These bras are a bit harder to find, but they are worth the effort, and worth what you have to pay. Try to find “leisure” bras, or “sleeping” bras. If you google them you will find something. They are a MUST if you want to remain perky for as long as possible – and well worth any trouble you may have to go through to find them.

Please do NOT wear your bra to bed.

Doing that will constrain your tissues as they try to grow, causing lots of stretch marks and eventually causing soreness, and possibly even preventing your breasts from getting bigger/to the size they should be according to your genetic code and diet.

My best friend wore a bra to bed from age 14 until age 22. She had stretch marks and achiness and finally stopped wearing a bra to bed. In two years, she went up 2 cup sizes, and her stretch marks began to fade. Her breasts are now perky but fuller, and the stretch marks are almost completely gone...and she doesn't wear sports bras anymore, or wear any sort of bra to bed.

No it not true, it does not effect your growth or increase your growth. Personally I hate to wear a bra, however I would think it would cause a problem in the area of circulation not in growth. You should always talk to your mother about such problems after all she went through the same problem when she was growing up.

I don't think that sleeping with a bra will help it to develop...if anything, hinder it. But really there is no problem with wearing one. My sister wears them to sleep but I don't. I feel that they are a bit cumbersome. Anyway, it's really up to you. But definitely use one when you are awake and moving about...you don't want them to sag as you get older. Exercise to keep them from touching the ground...lol! Best wishes and take care.
