No, the eagle doesn't want it back, and it isn't against the law to keep it, but keep in mind the bird itself could be an ill eagle:)

Yes, it is. During college I worked at the zoo. And there was an area for the eagles. When feathers hit the ground, we would have to call Wildlife and Parks.

Yes it is. It is illegal in many states to have any part of a bird of prey. I am not too sure why though. I guess it is because you cannot prove that you did not kill the animal. If you are an American Indian, you have a right to it though, I guess for religious stuff.

It's a great rumor isn't it?
As long as you can prove you found it you're in the clear.
But if they (big brother) think you killed or abused the bird to get the feather you're toast. You'll be in the federal big house with my friend Charlie who threatened to blow up the federal building in Seattle.

I wouldn't brag about having it. Just pass it on to your kids as the genuine article.

It may sound crazy but yes, it is VERY illegal. I've never heard of the law actually being enforced, but the fine is thousands of dollars.

yes they and their body parts, to include feathers are protected by federal law. To have one or collect them you must have a Federal permit issued by the EPA
