They have been broken up for over a year and a half. But now that I'm in the picture he wants him back. At first he started being vendictive to my bf. Now he's sending him email, telling him that he still cares for him. Do have reasons for concern, and should I have a conversation with the ex?

People my lover is totally in love with me. But his ex is also his business partner and has attempted to cause problems in that scope, which can affect our relationship.

That is so classic. He wants what he can't have dude but if he gets him the thrill will be over and he will be back in a bad relationship.
It's all about the chase and being jealous because he sees your boyfriend as moving on.

Don't worry about it my partner has heaps of his ex's hanging around, they're great guys and they take care of him. I get jealous every now and then but I think he likes that, he tells me no one else matters, who would I trust, HIM. If I'm wrong then I am wrong but I placed my trust where it should lie, in him, he loves his ex's but so do I, I care about all of them.

If your boyfriend loved you he would distant himself from the ex. He should cut off all ties and make it clear that he is not interested.
